Hallo my lovely friends & fans,

Oh, there is so much to tell! So many things have changed since my three months dancing my heart out in Brooklyn this spring and summer! I did so much good work on myself and my video ideas for "Sacred Whore" while I was there, but I came home to a completely different reality. I have been super busy adjusting to my new life, both without my former manager and with my new family. With the sudden departure of Kim, I have had to start over with every aspect of promoting and funding my music, and I have also had to accept a health food store job (which, thankfully, I love) in addition to teaching music students as I have always done (and loved) in the past. So I am working hard, as always, to get my music out to you. It's changing shape and direction, but it is still on its way, its long way home.

Good news!!! I am releasing the demo recording of my song, "Seeds," digitally as we speak! It will be arriving to the CD Baby and iTunes storefronts within a week, and it will hit all the other digital retailers in the next 2-9 weeks! Wahoooo! Please go to CD Baby and to iTunes to find Seeds! And if you get there before it does, please check back! It will be there soon, and in time for the holidays!

I want you to know how to get to ALL my music on iTunes. :) It's super easy to just do a search for my name, but even easier with this direct link:iTunes Feel free to use it a whole lot during the holidays!!! :)

More exciting news! I am on the radio every other Sunday night now, midnight to 3am EST! I guess that's technically early Monday morning. I am calling my show "butterfly mixtapes," because my programming is all over the place just like the lovely butterfly that is my heart, and my love of making mixtapes is why I've always wanted to be a radio DJ. I think I'd like being a danceclub DJ too...but that's a project for another day. :) You can listen on the radio at 90.3FM from southern New England and Long Island, or from anywhere in the world online at WRIU. My next show is this coming Sunday night, December 5th. If you are a musician or if you want me to consider playing someone's music, please feel free to send me CDs or vinyl! I will play anything I like that is also radio friendly. I like soulful and lyrically meaningful music, whatever the genre. Some of my favorites are Prince, Kristin Hersh, Throwing Muses, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Patty Griffin, Bjork, Incubus, Me'shell Ndegeocello, Brahms, Bobby McFerrin, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Lauryn Hill, Pink...and so many others!

Soon I will be launching a kickstarter.com project to help me make a vinyl release of "bound" and my 3 newest songs (!), and to help me upgrade my website and get singles and videos up online for you more regularly. :)

More happy news! I have 2 upcoming shows. On Tuesday December 7th at 7pm, I'll be returning to the Sidewalk Cafe, most likely with my old brave enough-bound-Mule band!!!!!! I am almost certain that Rich and Jay will be accompanying me on drums and bass for our set that night. You know that means we'll be playing "bound!" Yay!!!

And on Thursday December 16th, I'll be back at Hennessey's Hooley House in Boston! I sure hope you'll join me!

All show details are here.
And with the new year, I'll be in Providence at AS220 on January 5th and in

Bethlehem NH at Highlands Inn on January 8th! Yay - winter wonderland!

This Thanksgiving I took a real day off. It was so relaxing! We ate Chinese Food and watched Harry Potter movies in preparation for going to see the new one. I made apple pie. I am so very thankful for my new family and home, the most peaceful and loving home I've ever had. It is truly a dream come true. I am so thankful for work that pays my bills. I am so thankful for my health and for yoga and for the ocean. I miss dancing, and I am so thankful I'll be back in NYC next week for a couple of dance classes! I am so so so so so so so so thankful to be performing again after months of waiting for my former manager to book some shows. I am so thankful to have the ability to recreate my career myself even though the transition was at first a bit overwhelming. I am so very especially thankful to all of you, who show up and listen and support in so many ways the making of my music. With your help, and my hard work, I know I'm going to be able to make this album and its videos, even if it takes me way longer than first imagined or planned. The help page lists so many ways to help me make my album, and if you want to give as a gift to someone, just let me know. All those great things you get with your donation could easily go to whomever you wish, for the holidays.

With all my heart I am full of gratitude for you.

Happy Thanksgiving and Yuletide and Solstice and Christmas and Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, and...!

Be peace y'all, Kristi

Hallo Beautiful People!

So many plans are underway and being developed. So much is going on behind the scenes right now. That's why there are no shows on the tour schedule at the moment, and why it looks like nothing has been happening around here. Fortunately, this is a myth. :)

What's happening is that I am moving to NYC on Monday, part-time, so that I can meet lots of musicians, create a new band for my new album, play more NYC shows, take lots of dance and acting classes, and generally prepare for going into the studio to record the album and make its videos, and then shoot the film I'm going to be in. It's been a whirlwind of finding an apartment and organizing to go between two homes to make all this happen and still not miss out on the beautiful ocean summer here in Little Rhody. :)

I've been writing less here on the tour diary, and to my email list, partly because of this whirlwind, and partly since starting my own Facebook page. I was so resistant to Facebook for so long, but now that I have my own page and a phone that can take digital photographs, I am finding that it is the perfect way to chronicle, in snippets and photos, my day-to-day. And I'm going to create a fan page soon too. So if you are on FB, please befriend me to follow the whirlwind of my journey to the next album.

I created this here website 10 years ago(!), knowing next to nothing about html or the internet or web design. I done pretty good, considering. But it's time to build a new site. This new site is in the works, and I don't know quite how long it will take to get it up and running, but it will be the new kristimartel.com, bringing us forward toward the new album. This here site, kmetal.net, will stay here, as an archive. I may one day get the huge photo gallery that was started but never finished up here, and then the kmetal site would be its complete self, a mini-museum of my first 10 years on the road.

The new kristimartel.com will be part of bringing me and Sealed Lip Records and my new album "Sacred Whore" out to the wide wide world.

In the meantime in between kmetal's close and kristimartel.com's launch, please befriend me and listen to my new songs on myspace, follow me on Twitter, and befriend me on Facebook! My tour schedule will be listed on myspace and the forthcoming FB fan page. News of upcoming performances, the process of making "Sacred Whore," the new kristimartel.com, and my day-to-day, will surely surface on my personal Facebook page as well.

Thanks for sticking with me through all the changes! I can't do what I do without you. xo<3

Hallo Good People!

I just wanted to make sure you all got to see the Logo TV NewNowNext Pop Lab exclusive that features my performance at the December 2009 Outmusic Awards in NYC. You can watch the exclusive that includes my performance online. And you can watch many other exclusives of the other artists from this page too. Enjoy!

And thanks to everyone who made it to a very special show on Saturday night at Bell Street Chapel's lovely and beautiful-sounding sanctuary. The secret mystery cover song that Kevin and I performed was Def Leppard's "Photograph." Can you believe it? We had so much fun! It all came about because Kevin was playing some DL song during rehearsal, and I told him how the backing vocals on my song, "Sacred Whore" always remind me of DL's backing vocals. We ended up going through all the DL songs we like and picking "Photograph." And to make it all even more synchronistic, DL is talking about wanting to sexually own a woman he has only seen in magazines and tabloids in "Photograph," which is exactly one of the phenomena I address is "Sacred Whore!" Cracked my nerdy feminist self up. Hope you all can hear it next time. :)

Hallo Peaceful People!

So, Kim and I went to Stable Sound here in Little Rhody for a couple hours on Thursday afternoon to record demos of my two newest songs, "Seeds" and "Firewater." It was sooooo fun to work with Steve Rizzo in his beautiful space. He is so easy to work with, the studio is near the ocean, and there are horses everywhere! What more could a girl like me ask for? The songs came out great in just 3 takes each. :) I used my Nord for "Seeds," and put two backing vocals on it to represent what will eventually be more like a choir. We all have "Seeds" on constant repeat in our heads now. You can hear them both up on my myspace. Let me know what you think!

We are getting closer to getting into the studio for the whole album. And we've been talking to "the Big 4" record labels to get distribution for my little indie label. They are very interested! We are also meeting with a documentarian who is interested in directing "The Sacred Whore Project." One by one, we are gathering up this big team we need for this big project. It's very exciting!

And, my birthday is on Thursday. I realized about a week ago that this birthday marks the 30 year anniversary of my dad buying me a piano. I came home from school to find it in my living room. So, it's been 30 years of me practicing piano and hearing music in my head and knowing that I was meant to be doing what I am still doing today: writing and performing music for you all. It's going to be a special year. Hope you are feeling hope and joy already!
